About The Position

This is a highly visible leadership role as the recognized technical expert for Casualty Reinsurance claims, with responsibility for guiding complex matters and shaping best‑in‑class claim outcomes. The role partners closely with Product, Pricing and global stakeholders to analyze portfolio performance, identify trends, and deliver insight into losses, retro activity, and emerging risks. It provides scope to drive innovation through technology, AI and automation, improving efficiency, reporting and data quality across regions. The position also combines strategic influence with hands‑on claim management, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing across teams.

Requirements

  • Moderate relevant experience.
  • Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in handling specific claims matters.
  • Experience of working within the Reinsurance/ insurance/legal industry
  • Significant exposure to managing high risk and/or high value casualty reinsurance claims,
  • Preferred 7-10 yrs Reinsurance experience and/or some Reinsurance and additional relevant work experience
  • Involvement with relevant industry groups.
  • Legal experience in an insurance setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of technology and data is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and communication of the Claims strategy to enable the delivery of overall business targets.
  • Contribute to the development of appropriate strategies, processes, and procedures for the Claims operation to support the delivery of business targets.
  • Assist in the forecast of Claims activity through analysis of business levels and knowledge of the Claims environment to support decision-making.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure compliance with both statutory and corporate service standards and statutory regulations.
  • Maintain efficient handling of own caseload to ensure the prompt, timely, and effective handling of Claims.
  • Resolve customer service issues to ensure their prompt and timely resolution.
  • Supervise a team of Claims staff to ensure the overall output and quality of the service provided by the team is within specified levels.
  • Motivate and develop the team by demonstrating good leadership behaviours and through the use of management best practices, to enable the development of staff to support the achievement of business goals.
  • Develop and maintain good client relationships with the insured, agents, service providers, and the general public.
  • Ensure recoverable amounts are assessed and effectively followed up and approving significant claims within written authority levels.
