The Global AE Director will lead the Abrasive Systems global application engineering team to enable strategic growth by delivering strong financial results, advancing major customer programs, strengthening leadership engagement within the team and across functions, ensuring credibility and reputation within the organization and across the industrial marketplace, and maintaining operational excellence. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in science or engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years of experience providing technical support to customers in a technical sales, application engineering, product development and/or manufacturing engineering in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a people manager or leader.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on or supporting new product development programs, both during development as well as launching into the market.
  • Hands-on construction and fabrication experience, particularly utilizing industrial abrasives
  • Significant history in solving difficult problems.
  • History of demonstrating clear and concise communication skills, both internally and externally with business partners and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead global team to provide support of and collaboration with business organization in enabling execution of strategic sales plans through prioritization and delivery of impactful activities
  • Ensure stakeholder engagement, internal and at customers and business partners, to deliver large-scale customer programs to gain market share and protect current business
  • Drive growth through successful new product introduction (NPI) deployment by ensuring that AE expertise is leveraged for timely refinement of customer needs, validation of experimental product performance against those needs, development and delivery of technical content for new product launch packages, and penetration of new products into the market once launched
  • Ensure operational performance with emphasis on EHS, budget management, and facility improvements
  • Deliver leadership to drive a culture focused on global collaboration within the laboratory team while providing opportunities for team member growth and ensuring that hiring is aligned to filling key gaps while enabling desired culture
  • Ensure appropriate risk management and adherence to the 3M Code of Conduct
