Primary Purpose Works independently under general supervision. Updates Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with information from standard source documents such as: work orders, drawings, maps, written and verbal instructions which model electric and/or gas distribution or transmission systems. Examines work for correctness and accuracy through a Quality Assurance process and tools to ensure the Company safety standards and procedures are met with high quality data. Examines a variety of documentation such as maps, records, and plans for accuracy and information for others. May periodically perform field checks to locate equipment and verify data accuracy. Produces a variety of drawings, plans, and maps from the GIS database. Contacts designers, contractors, and field personnel in performing required research to determine accurate facility data to be updated in the GIS. Operates computer programs to support functions, such as CIS, GSS, Atlas, DMIS, MS Office and Asset Suite 8. Records work performed in performance database. Responsible for accuracy of the work being controlled. Communicates with members in other units to interpret discrepancies in records and resolves them in an accurate and timely manner. Applies knowledge of GIS, data models, and alternative management. Fixing Data Integrity Projects. Maintains Electronic Equipment Records. Inventory additions/removals/changes in AS8. Subject to overtime. May be required to respond during emergency events.
