About The Position

Under the general supervision of the GIS Manager, support the creation, maintenance, and delivery of high-quality spatial data, maps, and analysis. This role focuses on data integrity, cartographic production, field data collection, and supporting enterprise GIS workflows that help stakeholders make informed decisions.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online (editing, symbology, layouts, geoprocessing tools).
  • Solid understanding of projections/coordinate systems, cartography, geodatabases, and metadata.
  • Competence with Microsoft Suite and data management (joins, field calculations, data cleanup)
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Utah Driver's License with periodic verification by the City.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, Experience Builder, or Dashboards.
  • Familiarity with Python/arcpy, ModelBuilder, for ETL and automation.
  • Experience integrating CAD (DWG/DXF) with GIS; understanding of utility/asset
  • Knowledge of GNSS/GPS data collection, RTK workflows, and accuracy
  • Basic SQL for querying enterprise geodatabases (e.g. SQL Server/PostgreSQL).
  • Domain experience (utilities, public works, transportation, planning, emergency management, land records).
  • Esri Technical Certification(s) or GISP (not required but a plus).
  • FAA Part 107 (UAS) certification (not required but a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and maintain geodatabases (file/enterprise), feature classes, domains, subtypes, and metadata.
  • Perform data quality checks (topology, attribute integrity, schema alignment, projections) and resolve issues.
  • Standardize, clean, and import/export data among several sources such as but not limited to: GIS, CAD, and tabular (CSV, XLSX, shapefiles)
  • Produce publication-ready maps, web maps, and dashboards with clear symbology, labeling, and layout.
  • Maintain map templates, branding style guides, and cartographic standards.
  • Execute routine analyses (buffer, overlay, spatial joins, selections, geocoding).
  • Compile findings into easy-to-understand reports and map products for internal and public audiences
  • Collect and verify data using GNNS/GPS data collectors and mobile apps (Arrow Gold RTK, ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123).
  • Support asset inventory, utility networks, right-of-way, land records, and capital projects as applicable.
  • Publish, update, and manage layers, services, and apps in ArcGIS Online/Enterprise.
  • Assist with departmental accounts and individual user access, including specialized training, webinars, online training
  • Utilize software tools for routine data conversions and batch updates.
  • Document scripts/workflows and schedule routine tasks where appropriate.
  • Respond to map/data requests, tickets, and stakeholder questions.
  • Work with engineering, planning, public works, emergency management, redevelopment agency, IT, and other teams to meet GIS needs.
  • Maintain process documentation, data dictionaries, SOPs, and versioning practices.
  • Follow and improve data governance, naming conventions, and security standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and required.
