About The Position

This position functions as a geographic information system (GIS) technician within the Municipal Services & Operations (MSO) Department. This includes maintaining a geographic information system (GIS) providing geospatial support for MSO, including creation, maintenance, analysis, and dissemination of geospatial data and associated mapping and informational products.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited community college with an associate degree or four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, cartography, engineering or closely related discipline.
• A GIS certificate can be substituted for a specific degree and is an asset.
• Four years of professional GIS experience may be substituted for education requirements.
• The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license and pass a post-offer City physical and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• provide support for MSO in field data collection
• updating GIS assets during construction activities
• responding to requests for information, maps, records, and other materials from City Staff, contractors, outside agencies, and the general public
• perform field and office surveying duties
• prepare and distribute engineering-related correspondence and reports
• operate various engineering, computer, GPS and peripheral equipment
