About The Position

AECOM is seeking a GIS Specialist II to support a five-year, $3.9 billion Capital Improvement Program (CIP) to improve Chicago’s water services. We work with a wide variety of clients planning, designing, and managing the construction of large- and small-scale water, wastewater, and conveyance projects for federal, state, and municipal agencies and private industry clients. The daily responsibilities of the GIS Specialist II can include the following tasks:

Requirements

  • BA/BS + 2 years of related experience as a GIS Analyst, or similar position with professional level experience in design, development, implementation, and administration of a GIS enterprise environment or ArcGIS Online or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. or B.A. degree in GIS, Geography, or another science-related field.
  • Proficient in the use of Esri’s ArcGIS desktop applications for data analysis and creating presentation-quality maps
  • Strong understanding of GIS system architecture and workflows.
  • Experience developing web and mobile applications in ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS.
  • Experience creating reports or dashboards using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or Microsoft Power BI.
  • Understanding automated data management processes and web applications created using Arcade, Python, HTML, Javascript, or other applicable languages.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in multi-variable workflow management: planning, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Experience in manipulating data, including merging similar data from separate sources, which may have different data models, and enterprise reporting to include creation of advanced queries for ad hoc reports used in conjunction with enterprise software developed applications.
  • Experience with the implementation of short and long-term projects for the production and maintenance of enterprise geospatial application development-related projects.
  • Experience preparing technical specifications and conducting training for the end users.
  • Experience working in/for municipal agencies or with utility infrastructure work.
  • Proven ability to write reports, business correspondence, and product design documentation.
  • Proven ability to interface and work effectively with client organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with client and Chicago Department of Water Management (DWM) PMO program staff regarding project planning and goal setting, and expectation management.
  • Collaborate with other GIS team members regarding product design and delivery requirements for the client.
  • Monitor GIS database and system performance, address possible issues and ensure the continuous delivery of high-quality information to the client.
  • Manage existing GIS delivery workflows and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement.
