About The Position

As our GIS - Project Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of a GIS Unification Platform focused on Affordable Housing projects across the City of Los Angeles. This high-impact initiative will consolidate stand-alone web mapping applications from multiple City departments into one centralized, data-driven platform to improve tracking, reporting, and decision-making. Our GIS - Project Manager will oversee all phases of the project, including kickoff, stakeholder coordination, requirements gathering, application development, testing, training, and post-go-live support. This role requires strong GIS technical knowledge, cross-department coordination experience, and the ability to manage complex municipal initiatives from concept through deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Urban Planning, Engineering, Geography, Public Administration, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in GIS project management or technology program delivery
  • Experience working with City or local government agencies
  • Strong understanding of municipal policies, permitting, and development services processes
  • Experience leading requirements gathering, system implementation, and application development projects
  • Technical familiarity with ArcGIS platforms, web mapping applications, and system integrations
  • Proven ability to manage multi-stakeholder environments and cross-functional teams
  • Must reside in Southern California

  • Background in planning, engineering, or public infrastructure programs
  • Experience integrating GIS platforms across multiple City systems
  • Familiarity with API integrations and asset or permitting data systems

Responsibilities

  • Lead project management and technical oversight for GIS Unification Platform initiative
  • Oversee integration of stand-alone web mapping applications into a centralized GIS platform
  • Manage scope, budget, schedule, and cross-department coordination
  • Establish communication protocols, meeting cadence, and documentation standards
  • Facilitate requirements gathering with City departments and GIS subcommittee
  • Coordinate application development, prototyping, testing, and deployment
  • Ensure data validation, reporting standardization, and platform performance
  • Support development of geo-tagging modules and API integrations with permitting systems
  • Oversee training, rollout, and post-go-live enhancements and support
  • Prepare executive-level reports and presentations for City leadership
  • Build alignment across stakeholders to transition siloed systems into a unified platform
