The position is within the Planning, Design & Construction department at Florida State University. The role supports and advances the university's campus-wide mapping initiatives by incorporating current and emerging GIS technologies. Responsibilities include developing, updating, and maintaining spatial databases and data sets using ArcGIS and related applications, performing quality control and quality assurance (QA/QC) on GIS data, and ensuring data integrity and compliance with university and state standards. The position also involves executing queries using SQL, Python, or other scripting languages to automate processes and enhance data analysis, as well as providing vector spatial analysis and modeling to support decision-making processes. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with internal stakeholders and external organizations to assess and address mapping and spatial analysis needs, designing and producing high-quality maps, graphics, dashboards, and visualizations, and developing interactive web-based maps accessible to the campus community. The position supports Facilities Planning land acquisition processes, provides geospatial data management for the university's maintenance and utility infrastructure, and contributes to special projects and emerging initiatives as directed.
