About The Position

Under general supervision, performs entry and interpretation of information into CAD software and related equipment. Essential Functions: DESGIN: Using industry standard CAD and office software and equipment, and data from a variety of sources, create and modify Civil Engineering or survey drawings, specifications and exhibits; perform calculations and prepare maps; produce drawings and data for input into an Engineering Construction Database and GIS. Utilize maps and data from the GIS to prepare plans, exhibits and customized maps. Assist in coordinating and scheduling work load. Organize, maintain, track, and restore files as needed. Occasionally visit field to observe and record actual field and construction conditions. Additional Responsibilities: Perform related work as required or as delegated by supervisors

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED, 15 college credit hours in design drafting, computer-aided drafting, or related fields, with at least 6 credit hours in Computer-Aided Drafting or Cartography, AND two years of practical experience in GIS or CAD
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering drawing, CAD and cartographic principles, procedures and practices
  • Thorough knowledge of the ESRI ArcGIS environment and working knowledge of relational databases
  • Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Considerable skill in forming and maintaining effective working relationships, both internally and externally with Engineers and Designers; skill in maintaining records and preparing reports
  • Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which employee resides
  • Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as non-safety sensitive and candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position
  • Employees of MSD must have a meets expectations

Nice To Haves

  • Survey field experience and familiarity with data collector software and GPS
  • Experience with property research and plotting legal descriptions
  • Familiarity with hydrology and hydraulics
