About the position

The GIS Analyst will be responsible for understanding current data states, workflows, and processes to develop solutions for data integrations, transformations, and deliverables. This role involves GIS data analysis, data mining, technical support, and database maintenance to meet the requirements of both internal and external customers. The position requires problem-solving skills to recommend optimal data development and processing tracks, with project work focusing on process improvement, quality control, and data management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical project tasks including database design, advanced GIS analysis, and modeling.
  • Conduct data mining activities to meet customer specifications.
  • Provide specialized queries, maps, and reports to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Perform application testing and document defects.
  • Interface with Information Services (IS) GIS Support group to represent user issues.
  • Document requested changes from user interactions.
  • Conduct weekly analysis on mission-critical GIS data to maintain data integrity.
  • Develop methods for quality assurance/quality control on GIS and non-spatial data.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on GIS projects and solution definition workshops.
  • Identify training requirements and maintain training documentation.
  • Research and recommend new GIS technologies and processes to improve departmental functions.
  • Create automated processes using Model Builder/Python scripting or other tools.
  • Process, prepare, and convert data for GIS from various formats.
  • Analyze current business processes and recommend best practice solutions.

Requirements

  • Experience with Esri geodatabase design, structure, and management.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Thorough understanding of Esri ArcGIS products including ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox, ArcMap, and ArcSDE.
  • Knowledge of batch files and Python scripts for daily activities.
  • Ability to quickly learn new database technologies and scripting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of publishing with ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience with Natural Gas Utility and Enterprise databases.
  • Experience using Esri Data Reviewer and Workflow Manager Extensions.
  • Experience converting data between CAD and GIS.
  • Development experience using Python, FME, and/or Esri ModelBuilder.
  • Understanding of content and document management applications.
