About The Position

We are seeking a GIS Analyst to support our GIS team in the analysis, interpretation, and management of geographic data. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, experience in geospatial technologies, and a demonstrated passion for leading meaningful projects in public safety (addresses, roads, cities, counties, and states). As a GIS Analyst, you will lead spatial data initiatives and deliver actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making across departments.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geospatial Information Science, Urban Planning or similar field related to GIS
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or other GIS platforms
  • Experience in spatial data analysis, including data manipulation and geospatial modeling
  • Strong knowledge of spatial data formats (e.g., shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML, etc.)
  • Intermediate understanding of database management systems (e.g., SQL,Postgres)
  • Familiarity with remote sensing, GPS technologies, and data collection methods
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working with customers and providing exceptional support
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 9-1-1 mapping technology a plus
  • Experience with web mapping technologies (e.g., ArcGIS Online)
  • Knowledge of Python is helpful

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, optimization, and maintenance of complex GIS databases and systems
  • Conduct spatial analysis and geospatial modeling to support projects and organizational goals
  • Design, update, and manage digital maps and GIS products, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Integrate spatial data from diverse sources, including satellite imagery, GPS, and field data, and oversee quality assurance processes
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and materials to communicate GIS findings to stakeholders and executive leadership
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and departments to ensure the reliability and consistency of geospatial data
  • Oversee GIS-related projects by coordinating data gathering, analysis, and interpretation of both spatial and non-spatial data
  • Provide customer support in field mapping, offering guidance via phone, Teams, or email
  • Stay current with emerging GIS technologies, software advancements, and industry best practices, and recommend improvements to workflows
