The position of GIS analyst aids the preservation of Spokane Tribal Ancestral, Historic, Archaeological, and Traditional Cultural Places by maintaining the program’s geographic information system. This individual is primarily responsible for geospatial database management, processing spatial and ethnographic data into formats appropriate for the platform, and inputting that information and maintaining the integrity of the system. Because of the changing nature of technology, it is imperative that this position be assumed by a person experienced in computer software and hardware operation and maintenance. While training in advanced systems will be ongoing, demonstrated training/education and experience are required. Programming skills and experience with computers graphics (video editing, digitizing images, etc) and knowledge of digital cataloging and curation would benefit the program goals as well.
