About The Position

The Centennial Academy Gifted Teacher will utilize current strategies and theories to plan, organize and implement instructional strategies for Centennial Academy students through a Project-based Learning environment steeped in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) instruction.

Requirements

T4-T7 Georgia Certification Required
Gifted Endorsed Required
If Georgia Certification has not been acquired, candidates must produce Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) completion assessment data with proficient rating in area(s) of desired teaching field.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Abilities required: Normal school related working conditions to be expected, i.e. standing, sitting, etc.
Ability to collaborate well with others

Responsibilities

Ensures that each student in the program has the necessary evaluations and records in his/her permanent folder.
Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the gifted and talented program and implement changes based on the findings.
Prepares lesson plans for each group of students.
Provides appropriate schedules for exceptional students involving school personnel as required.
Seeks a variety of services through community resources and agencies to meet the needs of exceptional students.
Develops and monitors the modified strategies for the students in coordination with the regular classroom teacher as appropriate.
Participates in professional development as appropriate.
Participates on evaluation teams for gifted students as appropriate.
Provides specialized instruction to individual and small groups of gifted students when necessary to support learning the content areas.
Communicates responsibly with all students, parents, colleagues, stakeholders and school leadership.
Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications.
Executes rigorous and engaging lessons.
Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on Centennial Academy’s STEM and STEAM curriculum.
Develops and maintains an ongoing student identification process through the uses of a talent pool.
Performs other duties as assigned.
