About The Position

Provides supervision of the Northport Medical Center Gift Shop daily operations and volunteers in addition to providing excellent customer service and shopping experience for customers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum typing skills of 20 wpm
  • Good working knowledge of computer and keyboard operations and general office equipment
  • Must be able to effectively use Microsoft Office – basic Word and Excel skills
  • Good written and verbal communication, good organizational skills
  • Basic bookkeeping and familiar cash register sales, cash handling and reporting
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree and previous retail experience

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall operations of Northport Medical Center gift shop; buying, receiving, stocking, pricing, displaying, daily balancing of cash registers, payment of bills and inventory, and maintain growth in profit.
  • Responsible for maintaining organized stock room, ensuring merchandise is delivered to the gift shop in a timely manner. Communicates with vendors concerning damaged items and ensures invoices are correct.
  • Coordinate annual inventory process.
  • Assist Director with employee events.
  • Supervises gift shop assistant(s).
  • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
  • Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors and employees.
  • Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees.
  • Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees.
  • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.
