About The Position

The Gift Shop Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hospital gift shop. This position is accountable for maintaining an organized, customer-focused retail environment through effective merchandising, inventory management, and sales support. The Coordinator provides exceptional service to patients, visitors, and staff, assists in the selection of merchandise, and develops engaging seasonal displays that support marketing initiatives. Additionally, this role works collaboratively with volunteers to ensure smooth shop operations and serves as the primary liaison with vendors for purchasing and product selection.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provides courteous and efficient customer service to all guests, patients, and staff.
  • Plans and coordinates seasonal promotions, sales events, and holiday displays at least six weeks in advance.
  • Monitors sales trends and maintains appropriate stock levels, ensuring merchandise is attractively displayed and replenished as needed.
  • Oversees and reconciles employee charge accounts and ensures timely processing of payments.
  • Purchases merchandise in collaboration with vendors, maintaining focus on quality, affordability, and variety.
  • Prepares and submits monthly financial and operational reports to the Volunteer Services Manager and the Auxiliary Board.
  • Partners with the merchandiser to update floor layouts and keep displays fresh and seasonally appropriate.
  • Collaborates with the Volunteer Services Manager on signage, marketing, and promotional materials.
  • Trains and supports new staff and volunteers on customer service, product knowledge, and shop procedures.
  • Maintains cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal of the shop at all times.
  • Assists in identifying new product lines and strategies to increase sales and enhance the customer experience.
  • Keeps abreast of pertinent federal, and state regulations and laws and Tift Regional Health System, Inc. ("TRHS") policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to: TRHS' compliance standards as they appear in TRHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy; and HIPAA and TRHS policies regarding privacy and security of protected health information.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform tasks that meet the age-specific requirements of the persons, patients, vendors, and staff that the employee is charged to interact with as required by the position.
  • Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
  • Attends all mandatory education programs.
  • Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
  • Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
  • Cross-trains in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in the department.
  • Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
  • Manages resources effectively.
  • Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment and removes malfunctioning equipment out of service with timely reporting to the appropriate personnel.
  • Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.
