About The Position
The GI Lab Technician assists the gastroenterologist and/or surgeon with a number of GI procedures and provides patient care in the clinical setting specifically assisting with bedside cases done in the ER and ICU units. Also responsible for the care, cleaning, handling and preventive maintenance of GI endoscopic equipment and instrumentation.
Requirements
- Knowledge of patient care and basic human needs throughout the life span.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of acute and chronic disease process.
- Knowledge of standard precautions.
- Basic knowledge of anatomic structure and human body system.
- BLS
- 1-2 years as a Surgical Tech, GI Tech, Medical Assistant, CNA, Patient Care Associate, Corpsman or other relevant medical experience.
Nice To Haves
- Two (2) or more years working in a health care environment as GI Tech or PCA.
- Certified Endoscope Reprocessor
