Position Summary: As a Long-Term Care Physician, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to elderly residents living in long-term care facilities. You will diagnose and treat a range of medical conditions, provide preventative care, and coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure that residents receive the best possible care. You will work closely with the facility staff and residents' families to create a personalized plan of care that meets each resident's unique needs.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Eligibility for an unrestricted medical license in the state of practice
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of geriatric medicine
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including residents, faculty members, staff, and patients
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems and other clinical technologies

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular medical assessments and evaluations of residents
  • Diagnose and treat a range of medical conditions, including chronic illnesses, acute illnesses, and injuries
  • Prescribe medications and other treatments as needed
  • Provide preventative care, including immunizations and health screenings
  • Monitor residents' overall health and well-being, including physical, mental, and emotional health
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, therapists, and social workers, to provide coordinated care
  • Communicate regularly with facility staff and residents' families to ensure that residents' needs are being met
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and training programs as required
  • Attend regular meetings with the facility's medical director or administrator
