About The Position

We are looking for three GeoTechnicians with accountability for assisting Geologists, implementation of core sampling, and internal analytical work. This requires interacting with others in the Geology team to coordinate and implement sampling and analysis effectively. This work is a critical component of the Project Studies and, as required, includes support to geological and geotechnical studies. The work is technical in nature within the exploration geologys, geotechnical engineering and mining engineering disciplines. This role is a great opportunity to be part of the Resource Evaluation team where detailed data collection is conducted to interpret and define the structural geology, mineralization, and alteration characteristics of the deposit. Daily activities require frequent interaction with the core handling, drilling operations, resource modeling teams, and contractors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Professional and practical communications skills

Responsibilities

  • Operate core scanning and core photography equipment to document the mineralogical and physical characteristics of the drill core samples
  • Sample drill core and enter data into database to prepare core for shipment to lab
  • Update sample planning spreadsheets to verify correct sample IDs and intervals
  • Chain-of-custody responsibilities during shipping and receipt of samples to document possession of the core
  • Process sample return material from laboratories and inventory files
  • Collect, saw/cut, and conduct density measurement and point load tests with subsequent entry of results into database
  • Calibrate the density scale daily to prevent data errors and upkeep of onsite density laboratory
  • Prepare composites for metallurgical testwork
  • Collect, saw, wrap, document. and store geotechnical UCS samples
  • Collect, saw, document, and store geological samples for future use
  • Assist Geologists, Geotechnicians, Core Prep and Core Handling
