About The Position

We are seeking a motivated Geotechnical Engineering Intern to support geotechnical monitoring, field data collection, and analysis in an active open‑pit mining operation. The intern will work closely with the geotechnical and engineering team to help ensure the safety and stability of pit slopes, haul roads, and other mine infrastructure. This role provides hands‑on experience in applied rock and soil engineering within a large‑scale mining environment.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s in Geological Engineering or Mining Engineering, or Geology related field.
  • Interest in mining operations and geotechnical slope stability.
  • Ability to work safely in an active industrial environment.
  • Strong observational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Comfort working outdoors in variable weather and rugged terrain.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with geotechnical monitoring programs including daily slope inspections, prism checks, and instrumentation readings.
  • Support drill program activities such as horizontal drains, core geotechnical drilling and reverse circulation for dewatering purposes.
  • Assist in identifying geotechnical hazards such as cracking, raveling, or signs of instability.
  • Support slope stability reviews, blasting impact assessments, and updates to geotechnical databases.
  • Prepare figures, plots, and summaries.
  • Contribute to geotechnical reports and inspections.
