The person in this position will be part of an innovative and collaborative geotechnical engineering team of over 90 geotechnical engineers and geologists. Barr’s geotechnical engineering team serves the fuels, mining, power, and public sectors. We provide a wide array of services related to foundations, dams, embankments, landslides, soil-structure interaction, earth-retaining structures, excavations, and underground structures. We also offer geotechnical services for ground improvement, geotechnical modeling, instrumentation and monitoring, in-situ testing, geophysics, soil dynamics and earthquake engineering, geosynthetics, geohazard assessments, and groundwater and seepage. The person in this position will work on a variety of geotechnical projects that involve traditional geotechnical and civil analysis and design related to deep foundations, slope stability, seepage, bearing capacity, settlement, and earth retention with an emphasis on highly technical analysis and design of complex slope stability and foundations. Additionally, this role involves supporting, growing, and building a dynamic team to expand Barr's numerical modeling practice. This position is a limited, part-time position and can be filled by an employee working a 0-hour base. A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office. Remote: a remote work arrangement may be considered for this position. A remote arrangement refers to working primarily from a home office. Remote arrangements will be considered based on candidate qualifications, local regulations, and Barr’s needs. Travel expectation : limited, based on project needs as they arise.
