About The Position

TYPSA is seeking resumes from qualified geotechnical designers for our Irvine, California office. The candidate will be involved in the geotechnical aspects of a wide variety of civil engineering projects including transportation, rail and transit, energy, and water, in North America and beyond. This will include assistance with design of structure foundations, retaining structures, tunnels, slope stability, earthworks, and earthquake engineering. Underground construction is an important part of our portfolio, and the candidate will contribute to exciting and challenging tunneling projects in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering.
• Holds an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate or able to obtain it within 6 months of hire.
• Attention to detail, dedication to quality and accuracy.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Working knowledge of standard business software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Communicative – interacts openly with others; can maintain relationships, works well independently or with a team.
• Consultative - Consults with other disciplines as needed; tolerates different perspectives or opinions.
• Decisive & Action Oriented - Has a high level of energy and stamina; gets things done; makes sound educated but rapid decisions even when short of information; enjoys managing challenging projects and works well in fast-paced and pressure environments.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with commercial geotechnical software (e.g. Rocscience or Ensoft software) is a plus.
• Knowledge of CAD software is a plus.
