About The Position

The Geostructural Engineer's primary function is to perform analysis and prepare technical reports related to the design and design review of various geotechnical, foundation, and other structural components of a construction or repair project. This may be performed on projects including but not limited to residential, commercial and industrial properties, excavation support systems, foundation systems, and ground improvement.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical, Structural, or Civil Engineering is required.
  • EIT Preferred
  • 1 or more years of experience.
  • Proficiently use CAD, Excel, Bluebeam, and Word.
  • Able to work in a team environment and to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills required with ability to improve if needed.
  • Able to travel on temporary assignments if needed.
  • Able to perform field work on active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering analysis and calculations, and assist CAD technicians with preparation of drawings related to geotechnical design work including but not limited to foundation repair components, footings, jacks, piers, beams, posts, connections, etc.
  • Review data, drawings, sketches, calculations, and product information provided by other engineers or clients in the preparation of engineering reports.
  • Occasionally observe field explorations and/or construction activities.
  • Occasionally observe construction of geotechnical and geostructural items such as deep and shallow foundations, tiebacks, beams, posts, walls, etc.
  • Attend project meetings and communicate with clients.
  • Prepare technical letters and reports.
  • Work closely with senior engineering staff to address comments and prepare final reporting.
  • Train with fellow engineering staff and senior engineers.
  • Work collaboratively with CAD and Administrative staff.
  • Occasionally assist with development of proposals and participate in other business development activities as requested.
  • Interact with clients, other consultants, and state/local regulators
  • Work closely with Manager and Director to complete projects within schedule
  • Adhere to company safety policies and use of supplied personal protective equipment
  • Travel to Firm's other offices, client offices, labs, and project sites if needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
