About The Position

The Geostructural Staff Designer's primary function is to perform analysis and prepare technical reports related to soil/rock-structure interaction components on varied projects including but not limited to commercial and industrial properties, infrastructure, excavation support systems, foundation systems, ground improvement, and inspection of existing structures along with geotechnical investigations and geotechnical instrumentation.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required, associate's degree in civil technology or related field preferred
1+ years of experience preferred.
Knowledge of CAD software strongly preferred
Knowledge of mathematics through algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
Basic computer skills, including current versions of Microsoft Office
Strong Organizational ability, verbal and written communication skills
Able to work in a team environment and to consistently meet deadlines.
Great attitude and a desire to grow professionally
Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
May require the ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk and manipulate (carry, lift, move) light to medium weights of 25-50 pounds.
Ability to walk construction sites
Requires good hand-eye coordination, good eyesight, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate technical equipment, read technical information and analyze complex data.
Occasional travel to offsite locations to perform work and work-related errands or to attend meetings may be required.
Able to perform field work on active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required.
Must have valid license to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering analysis and calculations and assist engineers with preparation of drawings related to geotechnical design work including but not limited to excavation support, temporary and permanent support/shoring, specialty foundations, drilled shafts, and slurry walls.
Occasionally observe field explorations and construction activities.
Occasionally observe construction of geotechnical and geostructural items such as deep and shallow foundations, tiebacks, support of excavation, bracing, and grouting among others.
Attend project meetings
Prepare technical letters and reports.
Work collaboratively with Engineers and Administrative staff.
Occasionally assist with development of proposals and participate in other business development activities as requested.
Interact with clients, other consultants, and federal/state regulators
Work closely with Manager and Director to complete projects within schedule
Adhere to company safety policies and use of supplied personal protective equipment
Occasionally Travel to Firm's other offices, client offices, labs, and project sites.
Understand construction terminology
Other duties as assigned.
