About The Position

GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) INTERN INCATech LLC is a Woman Owned Small Business, providing innovative technology solutions to the US Government and well as commercial clients. We are looking for a Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) Intern to support INCATech’s GIS Practice and a wide array of federal agency programs. The GIS Intern will work together with a team of research analysts to design, develop, and implement GIS products, solutions, and methodologies. The GIS Intern will work both independently and collaboratively to synthesize intelligence and information from a wide-variety of disparate data sources, maintain data and product lifecycles, and conceptualize and design information products to communicate meaningful and complex information through geospatial visualization to decision-makers. Work Location: INCATech’s Corporate office in RESTON, VA; Length of Internship: 3 months

Requirements

  • 0-1 years’ experience creating products using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), and Portal configurable applications
  • 0-1 years’ experience with geodatabase management, editing, GIS data development and standardization, including performing quality control on attributes, metadata, topology, and spatial accuracy
  • Demonstrated proficiency with spatial data science concepts and spatial analysis tools and methodologies
  • Ability to make cartographic products and other data visualization and analysis
  • Strong team skills and the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers, clients, and share ideas on complex matters
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • High School Diploma

Nice To Haves

  • Publish GIS datasets to web-based geospatial platforms (e.g., AGOL/Enterprise) with appropriate configurations
  • Programming and scripting experience with Python, JavaScript, and HTML5
  • Expected Bachelor ‘s degree in Geography, GIS, Cartography, Computer Science, or related technical field

Responsibilities

  • Develop maps and other data visualizations using a variety of different software to include, but not limited to, Esri ArcGIS platform products, APIs, and applications
  • Implement appropriate GIS methodologies to support program-specific analysis
  • Document functionalities, processes, and best practices to support the program and wider geospatial community
  • Build geospatial databases or data stores from imagery and cartographic/digital sources; support the development of GIS database designs
  • Review, interpret, and utilize established production processes
  • Perform map and web map production tasks
  • Coordinate workflow and tasks with project/technical managers
