Where You Will Work In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation’s commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Located in southeastern Arizona, close to more than 4 million acres of national forest, employees and their families can connect with the great outdoors while fishing, rafting, hiking and more. What You Will Do Under supervision of a Senior Geologist, complete logging of drill samples, geologic mapping, sampling and assist in the completion of resource block models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or closely related field with no experience necessary
  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
  • Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

  • Ability to correctly identify and accurately estimate relative proportions and textural characteristics of metal-bearing and gangue minerals in a production setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform logging of core and reverse circulation drill cuttings.
  • Perform geologic mapping of surface and underground areas.
  • Assist Senior Geologist with the interpretation of all geological data (e.g., rock type, alteration and structure), assay, and mineralogical data into internally consistent cross sections and level plans.
  • Work with a team of Geologists in the completion of computerized resource block models that meet corporate modeling standards.
  • Prepare and update drill hole database, maps of deposits and other exploration records.
  • Perform rock chip sampling or soil surveys.
  • Perform other duties as required.
