Generator Technician
About The Position
Now hiring for a Generator Technician to work for locally owned maintenance company. This position offers great hourly pay, an excellent daytime schedule, and opportunities to acquire professional certifications from Kohler Power Systems. Employment benefits, including PTO, medical insurance, and company-matched 401k are available. Full-Time/Days; 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday with some on-call availability required. $24.00 - $35.00/hr. The Generator Technician will support the maintenance, repair, and installation of standby generator systems. Employee will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, installing and testing new units, responding to emergency service calls, and completing work orders, reports, and repair quotes in a timely manner. Adherence to safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), is essential in all aspects of this position. This position will require regular travel - employee will be provided with a company vehicle and all necessary accommodations to reach job sites.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education required.
- At least one year of professional background in generator maintenance and/or installations required.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate effective time management.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
Nice To Haves
- Prior technical education, training, or certification to work on generator systems a plus.
- Experience with Kohler Power Systems highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on standby generator systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair gas and diesel engines.
- Repair and adjust transfer switches and perform major repairs on units.
- Install and test new generator units.
- Respond quickly to jobsites in case of emergency.
- Complete and submit work orders and reports in a timely manner.
- Prepare accurate quotes for repairs.
- Follow safety requirements, including proper use of PPE.
