Inpatient/outpatient general surgery Ability to specialize in hand surgery, foot and ankle, or adult reconstruction/joints surgeon Excellent specialty support including well-established interventional radiology, Urologist, Ob/Gyn, pulmonary critical care, cardiothoracic, cardiology, GI, hospitalist, and neurosurgery Strong Primary Care referral base 31 bed ED and Level III designated area trauma Center Block OR scheduling with add on time and open scheduling available -UPH Allen- 8 General OR and 1 CVOR & UMP-ASC 4 OR and 2 procedure rooms State-of-the-art diagnostic and robotics (Da Vinci XI) 12 Bed ICU with intensivist Award winning heart hospital, primary stroke center, and accredited chest pain center Leading edge wound Clinic & hyperbaric center Excellent work/life balance with flexible scheduling Family Medicine Residency Program and Des Moines Medical students-teaching opportunities available Fully integrated system with clinic and hospitals on Epic EMR to improve care coordination

Requirements

MD or DO
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Surgery
Ability to obtain and hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa
Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the physicians field of practice
Eligible to work in the United States (H1-B cap exempt)
J-1 waiver sponsorship available

Responsibilities

Clinic-based consultations and surgical procedures
Clinic hours 8AM-5PM
Office procedures varies per provider
OR access at UPH Allen hospital and UMP-Ambulatory Surgery Center
Call 1:5 rotation with group
Trauma surgery
Typical General Surgery procedures include appendectomy, cholecystectomy, robotic/minimally invasive hernia repair, gastroesophageal reflux management, colectomy, abdominal surgery, Dialysis Access, Endocrine surgery, and lymphatic system & spleen surgery
