About The Position

Are you an experienced General Superintendent or Senior Commercial Superintendent ready to step into a leadership role with real authority and impact? Elite Construction & Development is seeking a General Superintendent to serve as our senior field leader, overseeing complex commercial projects while mentoring and developing Superintendents across the organization. This role is ideal for a construction professional who values disciplined execution, strong field leadership, and building high-performing teams. The General Superintendent (GS) i s responsible for overall field execution across one or more projects and serves as the senior authority for construction sequencing, means and methods, logistics planning, safety, and quality. In addition to personally leading complex or high-value projects, the General Superintendent provides direct supervision, mentorship, and development of Superintendents, helping to raise the consistency and effectiveness of field operations across the company. This position operates as a peer to Project Managers and reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Superintendent, including leadership on complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising and mentoring other Superintendents or field leaders.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction sequencing, logistics, and field operations.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment in high-impact field decisions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with construction technology and documentation tools, including Bluebeam/Acrobat and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate active construction sites.
  • Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field.
  • Experience with multifamily, commercial, healthcare, or public works projects.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • Strong craft background and practical field experience.

Responsibilities

  • Field Leadership & Project Execution: Provide senior-level field leadership on one or more commercial construction projects. Establish and maintain disciplined field execution focused on safety, quality, schedule adherence, and productivity. Serve as the senior field authority for construction sequencing, logistics, and daily operational decisions. Ensure work is executed in accordance with approved construction documents and project requirements.
  • Superintendent Supervision & Development: Directly supervise, mentor, and coach Superintendents across multiple projects. Establish performance expectations and provide structured feedback to support professional growth. Support the development of junior Superintendents and future field leaders. Provide input into performance evaluations, staffing decisions, and succession planning for field leadership roles.
  • Preconstruction Readiness & Field Planning: Partner with Project Management teams to assess field readiness prior to mobilization. Identify and escalate unresolved constraints that impact field execution, including incomplete scopes, sequencing conflicts, or buyout gaps. Participate in constructability reviews, logistics planning, and schedule development from a field execution perspective.
  • Safety Leadership & Compliance: Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all projects. Ensure compliance with OSHA, WISHA, and Elite internal safety standards. Reinforce safe work practices and support corrective actions when required.
  • Coordination & Communication: Partner with Project Managers to align field execution with schedules, budgets, and contractual requirements. Communicate field conditions, risks, and execution challenges clearly to leadership. Serve as the senior field representative with owners, inspectors, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Continuous Improvement: Reinforce consistent field standards and best practices across projects. Provide feedback and lessons learned to improve construction processes and execution discipline.
