The General Shop Laborer is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations to support production processes. This includes supporting machinists, operating basic machinery, cleaning and maintaining equipment, loading of parts, quality assurance, deburring and cleaning of parts and some janitorial functions. Assists department managers on general labor duties as assigned. Tend to one or more machine tools to machine metal and non-metal work pieces. Complete routine machine maintenance. Clean machines and work area to maintain safe working conditions. Load and unload raw materials and finished products. Replace cutting tools as required to maintain part quality requirements. Perform deburring, cleaning, and inspection to verify conformance using standard measuring tools. Empty garbage and recycling cans Tumbling and washing of machine parts Operate basic shop tools Move materials within the shop using forklifts or pallet jacks (if certified).
