About The Position

Washington County's Sheriff's Office is seeking a General Services Aide (GSA) to assist staff within the Business Administration Unit. Duties of the General Services Aide in the Business Administration Unit include: Transports equipment for scheduled service and maintenance. Assists with returning serviced equipment back to designated locations. Performs various inventory and supply activities such as counting, moving, organizing, and storage of equipment and supplies; performs basic and routine administrative tasks such as filing and answering phones. Cleaning and organizing warehouse and inside/outside dock areas. Assist in moving items to/from housing units. Manage flow of dock area in the absence of Equipment and Supply Coordinator. Provides general labor or administrative assistance on a variety of projects, activities, and events. Assists in creating a positive and supportive work environment; enforces a safe workplace; establishes a culture of teamwork and communication; creates a workplace that promotes the organizational values of access and opportunity and actively promotes an environment respectful of living and working in a society accepting of all. Assist with cycle counts and Workday inventory adjustments. Performs general and minor repair and maintenance tasks such as changing the vacuum belt or preparing clippers for housing. Escort repair technicians into the building and ensure no equipment or materials are left behind. This position is a Variable Hour position. Variable Hour positions are at-will and hours are limited to twenty (20) hours per week averaged over a three (3) month period. The Schedule is flexible and will be determined in coordination with the supervisor. These positions will accrue sick time and are not eligible for medical, dental, or vision benefits.

Requirements

  • Equivalent of a high school diploma AND One (1) year of experience that includes driving a vehicle and performing related general labor duties in an office, retail, or warehouse setting.
  • Selected candidate must pass a post-offer drug screen
  • The selected finalist(s) for this position must be able to pass a thorough background investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Office.

  • Skills to: Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job; Safely and effectively use basic tools, hand carts, and dollies; Perform basic arithmetic computations and record keeping; Perform filing, answering phones, and other basic office skills; and- Locate streets and addresses using GPS or standard mapping.
  • Ability to: Follow written and verbal instructions from assigned supervisory staff in a structured environment; Be thorough in completing assigned tasks; Effectively communicate and convey information with persons of varying socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds; Give full attention to what other people are saying, and ask appropriate questions to clarify understanding; Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups who come from diverse backgrounds and represent members of the public, coworkers, and/or vendors; Safely operate a motor vehicle;- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs.
