About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The General Sales Manager is responsible for managing the vehicle sales department in a professional manner that is consistent with Route 24 Auto Group’s core philosophies, principles, and values. The General Sales Manager will be held accountable to:  1. Achieve maximum results in sales volume, gross profit, customer satisfaction, and employee productivity by using motivational leadership and effective administration to create an environment of high productivity.  2. Effectively assemble, motivate, train, mentor and provide leadership to a team of associates that embraces Route 24 Auto group’s mission and core values. 3. Create a collaborative team-oriented culture that maximizes everyone’s potential. 4. Ensure that all company policies, procedures, programs, and strategies are followed and executed effectively. 5. Implement effectively all the duties, responsibilities, and requirements outlined in this job description. 6. Set a professional standard that always reflects favorably on Route 24 Auto Group. 7. Maximize the revenue generation and profitability of the sales team.   8. Requirements

  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook) and has working knowledge of sales-related computer programs
  • 3 Years of automotive sales manager experience
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Willing to submit to a pre-employment screening and background check
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean record

Responsibilities

  • Ensures adherence to The Company’s sales process
  • Supervises sales department staff, paying special attention to the flow of customers in the showroom, phone and internet inquiries, and appointments
  • Ensure prospects receive proper greeting, negotiation interaction, and exit consultation by salespersons and sales managers
  • Monitor CRM reporting to ensure sales department is operating within the key metrics for closing ratios, timely lead-handling, and accurate CRM prospect accounting 
  • Execute sales process to achieve gross profit levels that are consistent with market conditions and forecasts
  • Establish procedures to ensure positive customer experiences and online reviews 
  • Handle customer complaints in a timely fashion
  • Conduct daily save-a-deal meetings to maximize revenue.
  • Prepare monthly vehicle specials and updates marketing materials as necessary
  • Assists GM with scheduling of sales consultants, sales managers, business managers, and support staff
  • Hires, trains, motivates and evaluates staff on a regular basis 
  • Ensures that salespeople are trained 1-on-1 with management on a daily basis
  • Reviews all commission sheets, productivity reports, salesperson monthly forecasts, and profit performance with the salespeople, business managers, and BDC personnel
  • Ensures that employees are always conducting themselves in a professional manner and discipline staff when appropriate
  • Guarantees new hires complete paperwork and orientation prior to start date so computers and phones are active
  • Maintains proper supply of new and used vehicles by accurately forecasting future supply and demand
  • Maintains system to maximize new vehicle allocation and foster positive relationship with manufacturer for discretionary vehicles
  • Maintains process for accurate and timely new vehicle sale reporting to ensure collection of all applicable rebates, manufacturer monies and to timely identify any unwinds
  • Maintains a used vehicle acquisition system that employs a quick turn-around, quality repair, and reconditioning process for designated used vehicle inventory 
  • Maintains internal control over new and used vehicle inventory to prevent theft, vandalism and lot damage and ensures that facility is locked and secure
  • Adheres to Company used vehicle marketing and sales procedures, including proper pricing, markdowns, pictures, comments, and display
  • Complies with Company vehicle wholesale procedures to ensure timely liquidation of inventory
  • Follows Company standards for inventory appearance, condition of showroom and display areas, and snow removal
  • Monitors contracts in transit, rebates, and customer receivable schedules daily
  • Accounts for all dealer plates, keys, titles, certificates of origin, and sales paperwork, including needs discovery sheets, customer information, and registry paperwork
