About The Position

Summit Automotive Partners seeks a proven General Sales Manager to lead, coach, and execute across all facets of variable operations in a high-volume sales environment. Position Overview The General Sales Manager (GSM) is a hands-on leader responsible for driving sales performance, profitability, and team development across New and Used Vehicle Sales, Used Vehicle Acquisition, and Finance. This role requires deep operational expertise, strong leadership presence, and the ability to actively manage daily sales activities while building scalable processes that support long-term growth. This is not a desk-only role—the ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and leads by example.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Sales Manager in a high-volume franchised dealership
  • 5+ years of experience as a Used and/or New Vehicle Manager in a high-volume franchised dealership
  • 2+ years of experience as a Finance Manager in a high-volume dealership
  • Proven success in performance-driven dealership environments
  • Strong understanding of desking, inventory management, F&I performance, and KPIs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive results, and manage change
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required

Responsibilities

  • Lead all variable operations, including New Vehicle Sales, Used Vehicle Sales, and Finance
  • Drive volume, gross, and market share while maintaining a strong customer experience
  • Actively desk deals, evaluate trades, and structure transactions in real time
  • Analyze sales data, inventory metrics, and performance trends to guide decision-making
  • Partner with the General Manager to develop and execute store-level sales strategies
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the sales team
  • Establish clear expectations, performance standards, and accountability
  • Recruit, train, and retain high-performing sales professionals
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, urgency, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee used vehicle sourcing, appraisals, pricing, turn, and inventory mix
  • Ensure inventory aligns with market demand and profitability goals
  • Collaborate with reconditioning teams to optimize speed-to-lot and cost control
  • Leverage prior Finance leadership experience to support strong F&I performance
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and lender requirements
  • Promote ethical selling practices and transparent customer interactions
  • Champion a customer-first sales culture aligned with Summit Automotive Partners’ core values
  • Balance volume and profitability with long-term customer loyalty.
