The General Sales Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of dealership operations at the store level, including the performance of New and Used departments and oversight of the F&I team. The GSM directly manages the Sales and Finance Team, ensuring adherence to company policies to enhance customer satisfaction and long-term relationships. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of dealership sales systems, products, CRM, and market trends, as well as strong leadership skills that inspire collaboration. The Sales Department’s mission is to help families find the right boat, watercraft, snowmobile, or RV by guiding them through a thoughtful, needs-based sales process. Consistent follow-up and a deep understanding of our products allow us to provide a seamless, informed experience, ensuring customers feel confident in their decisions. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Establish a culture of accountability and leadership within the sales department, ensuring alignment with dealership goals for gross profit, unit volume, and finance penetration.
  • Manage dealership operations, including inventory control, expense oversight, and maintaining pay plans, spiff programs, and commissions within company guidelines.
  • Monitor and optimize inventory, working closely with the Regional Sales Manager, Sales Director and Consignment Manager to maximize turns, set pricing, oversee reconditioning, and maintain showroom and lot presentation.
  • Ensure deal efficiency and financial oversight, including reviewing "dead deals," assisting with deal structuring, and supporting Business Managers in completing transactions and securing financing.
  • Lead and develop sales teams, working alongside all Managers to execute the companies selling system while building a talent pipeline for future leadership roles.
  • Resolve high-level customer concerns, including trade discrepancies, complex deals and matters pertaining to our MVV that require executive intervention.
  • Coordinate marketing and promotions, ensuring pricing, sales, specials and shows are effectively communicated to drive engagement.
  • Oversee staffing and training, ensuring adequate coverage, development, and customer service excellence across all sales-related positions, including Receptionists, Lot Crew, and Forklift Drivers.
  • Plan and execute off-site and on-site shows, ensuring proper staffing, logistics, and showroom readiness.
  • To support cross-functional success, develop a comprehensive understanding of all dealership functions, including Sales, F&I, Parts, and Service.
  • Lead the entire dealership in delivering our MVV
