About The Position

General Quarry Worker Polycor New England is looking for hard-working, positive team players to fill General Quarry Worker positions at our Jay, ME location. This is a year-round outdoor job involving the extraction of granite from our quarry. Responsibilities : Drill holes in a granite block with a pneumatic hammer. Insert wedges into the holes and use a sledgehammer to break the blocks to the required dimensions. Operate drilling equipment. Operate saws to cut large blocks of granite from the open pit quarry. Follow policies and procedures to assure quality work. Maintain a clean work area. Work safely, according to guidelines and training, to prevent possible injuries to self and others. Perform additional duties as required. Requirement: Authorized to work in the United States. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions. Must be willing to work overtime and some weekends. Must have a valid driver’s license. Being comfortable with heights. Training: We offer training that will advance your knowledge, skills, and abilities within the industry. No experience necessary. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, climb ladders, balance, and stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move over 60 pounds. Please Note: Candidates who live more than 30 miles from our operation will NOT be considered.
