Summary: Analyzes and responds in a self-directed manner to tenant requests for services to a broad variety of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, vinyling and heating/cooling functions. Performs preventative maintenance and completes records for the buildings main mechanical systems; air conditioning, plumbing, electrical systems. Performs safety checks; orders supplies and equipment as needed; performs related functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years verifiable professional experience in one (1) of the following skilled trade areas: plumbing, electrical, electronics, HVAC, painting, flooring or carpentry.
  • Physical ability to be on feet most of the day.
  • May require working in a reaching or strained position, pushing, pulling and lifting light to heavy weight objects.
  • Basic computer competency. Must be proficient with email, word processing, data entry and completion of internet and intranet forms.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment: by accepting and offering honest and constructive feedback; by supporting team goals and encouraging other team members; and by collaborating with patient care team members to consolidate work, solve problems, create new methods and/or reduce costs.
  • Ability to understand and carry out the vision of patient care at Summa; to create a patient care environment which is focused on the needs and expectations of the patient, our customer.
  • Ability to be self-directed in executing responsibilities within a team structure.
  • Exposure to dust, dirt, variable temperatures, and long hours (due to emergencies).
  • Exposure to potential hazards from improper use of electrical, electronic, mechanical and power equipment, toxic chemicals and gases, etc.
  • Population Specific Competency: ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
