About The Position

DSG is seeking a General Manager for our Waterworks Business Unit. As a General Manager, you will have full channel leadership of the Waterworks Business Unit and be responsible for leading the sales and operations of a multi-site Waterworks business within the wholesale distribution industry. This role requires the analysis of broad and complex issues and formulating executable strategies to ensure that we deliver to our customers most efficiently and effectively. The qualified candidate will be an integral member of the leadership team and a key sponsor of annual strategic objectives, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. They will also be responsible for acquisition and business integration strategies and execution. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, Finance, Distribution Management, or related equivalent field experience
  • 7-10 Years’ experience providing distribution leadership; managing complex business situations; operations; product knowledge; finance.
  • Must have strong business knowledge and experience, with the ability to provide reports and analysis of financial and operational positions to forecast, develop and implement strategic plans within the context of the larger picture.
  • A valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of management, financial analysis, project management, and personnel management.
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating various activities; developing, implementing, and communicating policies and procedures for a large organization; analyzing data; making sound recommendations; and adopting effective causes of action, working tactfully with all levels of the organization.
  • Previous accountability for departmental/company P&L with demonstrated experience in profitability management.
  • Adaptable and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving work environment while driving toward clarity and solutions.
  • Progressive management experience with demonstrated success.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Waterworks industry is preferred.
  • Experience leading a multi-facility business is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for attaining financial goals as established by the Chief Operating Officer and approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Participates in corporate strategic planning and completes satisfactory progress on corporate strategic goals and objectives.
  • Implements corporate-directed programs, including marketing, sales, purchasing, distribution, operations, accounting/finance, safety, education, and employee resources.
  • Highly involved with strategic planning and execution of initiatives and best practices to enhance profitability, productivity, and efficiency throughout branch locations
  • Assumes primary responsibility for efficient, cost-effective operations.
  • Reviews financial and operating reports; monitors all departments and locations regularly.
  • Assists Corporate Credit staff with a collection of customer accounts.
  • Approves salary, bonus, and commission schedules per corporate guidelines and budget controls.
  • Approves, within budgetary and corporate guidelines, expenditures for capital equipment.
  • Manages the overall activities of the P&L center, overseeing work accomplished by Branch Managers, Regional Sales Manager(s), and Regional Operations Manager(s); ensures work is consistent with corporate policies and objectives.
  • Ensures inventory management is consistent with sales, cash flow, and financial goals.
  • Oversee sales, delivery, distribution, pricing, accounting, and customer service.
  • Serves as the principal public relations spokesperson for the defined P&L center.
  • Conducts regular staff meetings.
  • Interacts effectively with customers and vendors, maintaining and developing relationships.
  • Keeps abreast of industry trends; attends trade shows, conventions, and seminars as appropriate or as directed.
  • Implement improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and optimize workflow within individual and multiple warehouses.
  • Interact regularly with the executive team and individual department heads to ensure priorities align with the overall company direction.
  • Responsible for budgeting, analysis, and reporting to the executive leadership team to evaluate operating results regarding cost, budget, operating policies, trends, and increased profit (or decreased expense) opportunities.
  • Fosters a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, customer focus, and service while driving individual accountability and integrity.
  • Analyzes current and future trends in the distribution industry and accurately assesses functional responsibilities, competitive strengths, and vulnerabilities to maintain a competitive position.
  • Creates and manages a department structure, operating standards, and practices that are responsive and adaptable to evolving needs of both our internal and external customers.
  • Manages employee performance by establishing clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against goals, ensuring timely feedback, and promptly and professionally addressing performance challenges.
  • Leads the continuous improvement of the customer experience through programs and initiatives to reduce errors, provide on-time delivery, and exceed customer quality expectations.
  • All other duties as assigned.
