About The Position

At Bruegger’s Bagels, the company is committed to serving genuine, New York-style bagels and real, made-in-Vermont cream cheese, while also prioritizing work-life balance for its team, with stores closing at 2pm. The General Manager oversees all aspects of the store with a “treat it like you own it” philosophy. This role involves starting as early as 4am for the first bake and store opening, ensuring the store is audit-ready, executing catering, mobile, and in-store orders, and providing an exceptional customer experience. General Managers are hands-on operators, floating in all positions during breakfast and lunch rushes, managing breaks, and aiming for good customer survey results. After closing at 2pm, it usually takes 30-45 minutes to close and prep for the next day, with administrative tasks like scheduling, ordering, or inventory often done before opening or after everyone leaves. The role also includes taking the daily deposit to the bank, ensuring completion well before dinner time. The company provides 5 weeks of training for this position.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • 1-3 years prior General Manager or Assistant General Manager experience in a restaurant setting
  • Hands-on operator
  • Ability to simultaneously motivate and inspire the team
  • Tried and true strategies for achieving food cost goals and labor targets
  • Ability to recruit quality team members
  • Ability to develop internal talent
