About The Position

Located inside the iconic theWit Hotel—a vibrant luxury lifestyle destination in the heart of Chicago’s theater district—State and Lake Chicago Tavern blends contemporary design with classic Midwestern hospitality. We are seeking an experienced and passionate General Manager to lead our dynamic restaurant team. This individual will embody the spirit of theWit brand: bold, engaging, and dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking hospitality professional with a strong background in elevated dining. They will inspire the team to deliver impeccable service, uphold brand standards, and achieve operational excellence while building a culture rooted in genuine connection and enthusiasm.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in upscale or full-service restaurant management.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; college degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
  • ServSafe and BASSET certifications required.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, interpret financial statements, and drive profitability.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring seamless service and an exceptional guest experience reflective of a luxury lifestyle brand.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performance team committed to excellence, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with culinary and bar leadership to maintain menu quality, innovation, and consistency consistent with theWit’s elevated brand standards.
  • Drive financial performance through careful management of labor, cost control, and revenue strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Develop strong relationships with guests and build community partnerships that enhance visibility and loyalty.
  • Work closely with hotel leadership to align the restaurant’s vision with the hotel’s overall guest experience and brand promise.
  • Address guest feedback promptly, ensuring resolution that reflects professionalism and brand integrity.
