About The Position

Since 1974, Shermco has become North America’s largest and fastest growing NETA-accredited electrical testing organization, focusing on ensuring electrical power systems function properly and safely. Their services include Professional Engineering Group, Rotating Machinery Division, Renewable Energy Services, Field Repair, and local Repair Service Centers, handling all electrical needs with an emphasis on safety and client service. The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, managing staff, ensuring smooth processes, and identifying areas for improvement. This role involves close collaboration with other departments to meet company goals and objectives. This specific branch is a $7M operation with 16 employees, performing NETA testing, repair, and maintenance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in operations/general management with full P&L responsibility of $5-10M + and at least 8-10+ employees, ideally in an engineering services or field services environment in manufacturing, MEP, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial
  • Experience working with customers and building relationships
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience growing a business
  • Self-starter
  • Strong safely culture leadership experience
  • A strong desire to "win"/competitive nature with a strong drive, energy, and motivation
  • An interest and ability in being a hands-on leader
  • Strong change management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions

Nice To Haves

  • An education at the bachelor’s level in engineering or business management is highly preferred. Specific industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations
