About The Position

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day operations of Hyatt Place Schaumburg. The GM ensures the property delivers an exceptional guest experience aligned with Hyatt brand standards while achieving financial objectives, maintaining operational excellence, and fostering a positive workplace culture. As the senior on-site leader, the General Manager oversees all departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Sales, Maintenance, and Administration.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of General Manager or senior hotel leadership experience
  • Hyatt brand experience preferred (Hyatt Place experience strongly desired)
  • Proven track record of financial performance and operational excellence
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in hotel management systems and financial reporting
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to walk the property and perform light physical activity as required
  • Must be able to respond to hotel needs during emergency situations

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Experience managing select-service or lifestyle hotel brands
  • Knowledge of the Schaumburg / Chicagoland market

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and inspire the hotel management team and associates in accordance with Hyatt’s values and service philosophy
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, inclusion, and continuous improvement
  • Recruit, train, develop, and retain top talent
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, labor laws, and safety regulations
  • Ensure delivery of consistent, high-quality guest experiences aligned with Hyatt Place brand standards
  • Monitor guest satisfaction scores (GSS) and online reviews; develop and implement action plans for improvement
  • Handle escalated guest concerns professionally and effectively
  • Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets
  • Drive revenue growth through effective pricing, sales strategy, and expense control
  • Analyze financial statements and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure profitability
  • Protect and enhance the value of the hotel asset
  • Partner with sales and revenue management teams to maximize occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR
  • Build strong relationships with local businesses, corporate accounts, and community partners
  • Represent the hotel professionally in the local market and at industry events
  • Ensure full compliance with Hyatt brand standards, audits, and quality assurance programs
  • Oversee property maintenance and capital improvement projects
  • Ensure safety, security, and risk management protocols are followed at all times
