About The Position

The general manager contributes to the success of Lofty Co. by leading all team members to deliver an exceptional experience for our guests. The general manager is responsible for achieving sales and payroll goals, managing the day-to-day café operations and ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction. The general manager is an advocate of customer service, training, educating and encouraging safe work practices. This position has accountability for coaching of team members, fostering a positive work environment and driving sales.

Requirements

  • 4 years+ of cafe, restaurant or retail management experience required.
  • Proficient on a computer and proficient with software programs such as Microsoft Suite and Google Suite.
  • Must have open availability and be able to work 45+ hours a week, including weekends, evenings and special events as needed.
  • Must be well-organized, detail-oriented and able to successfully manage multiple tasks.
  • Must have effective problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs and frequently bend and twist from the waist.
  • Must be able to regularly handle food, hot beverages, and work with sharp objects.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have Manager SafeServ certification.
  • Must adhere to Lofty Co. dress code

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team to deliver excellent service to achieve financial goals.
  • Align team with company goals and initiatives.
  • Foster a work environment where each individual embodies Lofty’s Ethos.
  • Identify, recruit and hire top talent to support business needs.
  • Build and maintain a bench for next level promotions.
  • Review and validate new hire documents, I-9 and Meal Break Waiver
  • Administer Food Handler’s testing within the first week of employment.
  • Add new team members in Paylocity. Assign code, pay rates and role. Train new team members using LOFTY training chapters to effectively perform in their role.
  • Certify that team members can deliver Lofty’s standard of service using the comprehensive and practical tests.
  • Provide ongoing training and development to all team members in customer service, product knowledge and café operating standards.
  • Conduct monthly one-on-ones with team members to set goals and monitor progress.
  • Address performance issues in a timely manner using the coaching formula, developmental plans and documentation.
  • Conduct 90 Day and Annual Performance evaluations for all team members.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Area Manager to review results, people, service and standards. Prepare one-on-one documents to review business results, cafe performance KPIs and people.
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one with Shift Leads to review results, people, service and standards.
  • Act as a Brand Ambassador for Lofty Co. and strive to deliver the best guest experience.
  • Execute all company directives under people, service and standards.
  • Ensure that all team members deliver exceptional customer service to each and every guest
  • Ensure that all food and beverages meet the highest quality standards
  • Take action proactively to prevent customer services issues
  • Resolve all guest issues with urgency and in a professional manner
  • Solicit customer feedback to understand customer needs and the needs of the local community.
  • Plan, prioritize and delegate appropriate responsibilities to team members to ensure smooth flow of café operations
  • Be accountable for profitability of cafés by growing sales and controlling costs of goods, inventory levels, labor, supplies and expenses.
  • Perform quarterly inventories.
  • Ensure that café ordering is regularly and accurately completed to support business needs
  • Complete weekly schedule to ensure proper team member coverage according to the needs of business while meeting target labor costs.
  • Publish schedules on Mondays by 10am.
  • Review team member timecards to ensure accuracy and process and submit payroll by 10am on Monday when payroll is due.
  • Pass monthly Café inspections with 80% or above. Take appropriate actions to resolve any outstanding issues.
  • Monitor all Square POS procedures to ensure accuracy.
  • Certification for manager SafeServ test.
  • Address café maintenance issues with urgency and take appropriate actions to resolve issues
  • Promote and practices safe work habits, identifying and resolving potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and any team member or customer incidents
  • Documents accidents, conducts initial investigation and determination of root cause in the interest of maintaining a safe work environment
  • Provide guidance and actively set an example for team members, ensuring that all Standard Operating Procedures are followed.
  • Maintaining proper coverage through proper scheduling to meet business needs.
  • Ensure that team members adhere to meal and break policy.
  • Perform all front and back of house functions including but limited to opening + closing procedures, maintaining cleanliness standards, coordinating break schedule, order processing, invoicing, daily tip reporting.
  • Communicates business essential information to the Area Manager to positively impact the business.
  • Takes initiative to proactively address business needs.
  • Prepare beverages to Lofty standards and follow all drink recipes maintaining the highest quality
  • Understand coffee extraction and be able to taste defects to adjust and correct accordingly
  • Able to operate all coffee equipment proficiently including but not limited to espresso machines, grinders and coffee brew tools
  • Stay dialed to the Lofty standard of espresso perimeters through the entire shift
  • Precise preparation and deliverance of drinks in a timely fashion
  • Maintain a clean workstation following company standards and guidelines
  • FIFO guidelines: First-in = First-out rotation of coffee beans, milk, syrups to ensure freshness and proper sell-through
  • Display coffee bean sourcing origins and coffee roast knowledge
  • Display knowledge of Lofty milk products offerings, proprietary syrups, drink recipes and ingredients
  • Prepare food to Lofty standards and follow all recipes and correct proportions maintaining the highest quality.
  • Present food in intended containers and follow plating standards.
  • Able to operate all kitchen equipment proficiently.
  • Must have basic knife skills.
  • Maintain a clean workstation following company standards and guidelines.
  • FIFO guidelines: First-in = First-out rotation of food product to ensure freshness and proper sell-through.
  • Follow safe food handling guidelines.
  • Creates awareness of food allergies and properly communicates with team and guests to prevent incidents.
