About The Position

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational direction, and financial oversight for a full-service Marriott hotel operated by Atira Management Company. This role ensures the hotel consistently delivers exceptional guest experiences, meets brand standards, drives revenue and profitability, and fosters a high-performing team culture aligned with Atira’s core values of service excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. The GM serves as the primary liaison with Marriott International, ownership groups, and Atira’s corporate leadership, ensuring full compliance with Marriott brand programs, quality assurance standards, and operational best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of hotel leadership experience, with at least 3 years as a Director of Operations, Hotel Manager, or General Manager in a full-service or upper-upscale branded hotel (Marriott experience strongly preferred).
  • Proven track record of driving guest satisfaction, employee engagement, and financial performance.
  • Strong understanding of Marriott systems (MARSHA, GXP, Micros/Simphony, CI/TY, FOSSE, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays as hotel operations require.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team across all hotel departments including Rooms, F&B, Sales, Engineering, and Finance.
  • Champion Atira’s people-first culture, focusing on employee engagement, performance management, and retention.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and results-oriented work environment that reflects Marriott brand values and service philosophy.
  • Ensure efficient daily operations in alignment with Marriott brand standards, Atira operating procedures, and local regulations.
  • Oversee front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, banquets, culinary, engineering, and loss prevention.
  • Maintain a sharp focus on guest satisfaction metrics (GSS), operational audits, brand inspections, and service recovery processes.
  • Drive cleanliness, safety, and maintenance programs to maintain the physical asset to brand and ownership expectations.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans in collaboration with Atira’s corporate leadership.
  • Maximize hotel profitability through effective cost controls, revenue management strategies, and labor optimization.
  • Analyze financial reports, STR results, and operational data to identify opportunities and take corrective action.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to ownership and Atira Management.
  • Partner with the Director of Sales & Marketing to drive group, transient, corporate, and event business.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to optimize pricing strategies and distribution channels.
  • Participate in key community and business development activities to enhance market presence and demand generation.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key accounts, local partners, and Marriott regional teams.
  • Uphold all Marriott brand standards, including service culture (e.g., Marriott Bonvoy), operational SOPs, and brand initiatives.
  • Ensure successful execution of brand audits, quality reviews, and compliance requirements.
  • Promote a continuous-improvement mindset, leveraging guest feedback and operational data.
  • Serve as the primary on-site representative of the ownership group and Atira Management Company.
  • Provide transparent communication regarding hotel performance, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Execute ownership objectives while preserving brand integrity and Atira’s operational philosophy.
