About The Position

Responsible for overall operations in the club. He/she is responsible for helping to establish/reinforce company policy and helping to implement that policy. This includes the development of goals for the club, both short and long term, and the implementation of ways to reach those goals. Networking and mingling with members to create an inviting atmosphere is a must. The General Manager is ultimately responsible for club profitability and member satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in related field with 3-5 years of experience in health club management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of a yearly operating budget.
  • Assist in the development of a capital improvements budget.
  • Direct supervision of all supervisory staff.
  • Indirect supervision of all line staff.
  • Direct the operations of all departments. Provide direction, develop budgets, develop, maintain and train staff.
  • Authorize new hires, pay rates, wages and salaries.
  • Assist in the development of advertising and promotional campaigns.
  • Position the club in the desired community marketing niche.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of club member policies.
  • Promote and sell club memberships and programs.
  • Handle club member/employee complaints.
  • Foster a team atmosphere by assisting other staff members as needed.
  • Participate in club events.
  • Participate in a variety of club classes.
