About The Position

General Manager – Postcard About Postcard Postcard is a cafe and music-forward lounge at the intersection of design, hospitality and music inspired by the liminal spirit of travel — a space where chance connections can happen, and the air is always humming with possibility. The Role As we extend our operations into an evening cocktail and music lounge, we are looking for a General Manager who understands each daypart and can lead confidently across them both. This is a senior leadership role that works closely with senior leadership to oversee daily operations, develop the team, and hold the standard of the experience from open to close. You are a natural leader, proactive in your communication, and serious about what great hospitality actually looks like in practice.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in cafe, bar, or full-service restaurant management (experience across more than one environment preferred)
  • Deep knowledge of hospitality operations, including the ability to run the floor independently while balancing the administrative tasks of the role
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, labour scheduling, inventory management and cost
  • A passion for creating memorable experiences for guests
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a team
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • Food Handler Certification and ServSafe Alcohol (BASSET) Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily cafe and bar operations, ensuring a consistent, high-quality guest experience
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the hourly team with a genuine investment in their development
  • Drive hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training in line with Postcard's standards and SOPs
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and supplier relationships
  • Maintain financial oversight, including labour management, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Build and manage schedules with a mindful approach to labor efficiency and team workload
  • Oversee waste management and ensure operational standards are upheld consistently
  • Collaborate on events and brand activations
  • Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements where needed
  • Build and maintain a team culture grounded in professionalism, accountability, and mutual respect
