About The Position

Morningstar Marinas is seeking a General Manager who loves working with people, possesses a positive demeanor, and enjoys hands-on work both indoors and outdoors. The company has created a community of boaters and provides best-in-class services and amenities at coastal locations in VA, NC, GA, FL, and a river location in OH. The ideal candidate is someone who desires to run their own business within a larger organization, capable of handling both operational tasks and P&L management. They must understand that customer service is paramount, from daily dock walks and grounds maintenance to greeting customers at the fuel dock. The role requires a people-person with strategic capabilities to manage current business operations and develop future growth.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience working in, or managing, a physical operation with P&L responsibility
  • Independence & intuition; curiosity & creativity
  • Solid problem-solving skills; the ability to address immediate needs and quickly find resolutions to issues
  • A strong willingness to learn not just the immediate duties, but those of the entire marina operation
  • Top-notch verbal and written communication skills
  • An Associates degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelors degree is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create, and operate in, a clean and secure environment that ensures the absolute safety of our employees and customers alike.
  • Recognize the value of premium customer service and execute practices that are beneficial to both the customer and the needs and goals of the marina.
  • Have a firm grasp on the marina business. Knows the primary revenue drivers, as well as the areas with the highest profit margins.
  • Fully understand and flawlessly execute the P&L for the marina
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the best trained marina staff in the business
  • Drive efficiencies, implement operational improvements, and constantly strive for customer satisfaction
