General Manager, Hotel Ella

RexAustin, TX

About The Position

Rex is hiring a General Manager to translate Hotel Ella’s strong foundation into elevated, enduring performance as a premier boutique hospitality destination. The property has a distinctive brand, meaningful food and beverage and events revenue, and clear upside across both commercial performance and guest experience. This leader will own results across sales, operations, and guest experience, ensuring speed, discipline, and accountability in execution to drive profitable growth. You will serve as the connective tissue between rooms, food and beverage, events, and local partnerships, creating alignment across the business while maintaining exceptional service standards and operational precision. You’ll actively build and deepen relationships within the Austin community, cultivating partnerships that drive group, corporate, and event business while enhancing the hotel’s local presence and brand. You’ll establish systems, rhythms, and a culture that turns existing traction into sustained excellence, balancing creativity with operational rigor and keeping the guest experience at the center of every decision. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for an emerging hospitality leader with strong food and beverage and events exposure, a builder mindset, and the ability to translate strategy into consistent, high-quality execution.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in hospitality, with exposure across hotel operations, food and beverage, and events; prior P&L ownership or direct responsibility for property-level performance strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to drive revenue through hands-on sales execution, including sourcing, networking, and closing group, corporate, and event business.
  • Strong commercial instincts with a track record of improving occupancy, rate, and total property revenue through creative thinking and disciplined execution.
  • Deep understanding of hotel operations across rooms, F&B, and events, with the ability to connect front-of-house experience to back-of-house efficiency.
  • Demonstrated success leading small, high-performing teams, with a leadership style rooted in accountability, ownership, and energy.
  • Experience building local partnerships and integrating into a community to drive awareness, demand, and repeat business.
  • Skilled in developing promotions, packages, and upsell strategies that enhance both guest experience and revenue performance.
  • Operationally sharp, with the ability to identify inefficiencies, optimize labor and processes, and improve profitability without compromising service quality.
  • Comfortable using data and KPIs such as occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, event conversion, and guest satisfaction to inform decisions and drive results.
  • High agency, scrappy, and execution-oriented; willing to do the work required to win, from sales outreach to operational problem-solving.
  • Builder mindset with the ability to take a strong foundation and elevate it into a standout, market-leading property.
  • Missionary mindset: driven by purpose, disciplined under pressure, and relentless in execution.
  • Fully aligned with Rex’s mission to catalyze human flourishing through business.

Responsibilities

  • Own overall hotel performance, combining strong operational leadership with a commercial mindset to drive revenue, profitability, and an exceptional guest experience.
  • Drive commercial and operational excellence across rooms, food and beverage, events, and local partnerships, ensuring disciplined execution and sustained performance.
  • Serve as the primary sales driver for the property, actively prospecting, networking, and converting group, corporate, and community-driven business.
  • Actively pursue and secure group, corporate, and local negotiated business, building relationships with companies, organizations, universities, and event planners.
  • Design and implement systems that align sales, events, and on-property operations, ensuring seamless execution from initial inquiry through guest departure.
  • Develop and execute creative packages, promotions, and upsell strategies that enhance the guest experience while increasing revenue across rooms, F&B, and events.
  • Own guest experience and retention, creating a hospitality environment that drives repeat stays, strong reviews, referrals, and long-term loyalty.
  • Represent Hotel Ella in the community by attending events, forming local partnerships, and increasing brand awareness and market presence.
  • Recruit, inspire, and manage a small, high-performing team, setting clear expectations and fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and enthusiasm.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to optimize labor, processes, and profitability while protecting and elevating the guest experience.
  • Implement and optimize operational tools, systems, and reporting, leveraging data to improve decision-making, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Own KPIs across occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, event conversion, F&B performance, guest satisfaction, and overall profitability.
  • Maintain high standards of operational compliance, safety, and brand integrity across all aspects of the property.
  • Execute the company vision while bringing forward fresh ideas, creativity, and initiative to help the property stand out and continue evolving in the market.
  • Serve as a key partner to ownership, aligning daily execution with strategic priorities and long-term vision for Hotel Ella.
