About The Position

The General Manager in Training role focuses on delivering a superior selling experience to both DIY and professional customers. Key responsibilities include providing leadership and developmental coaching to store Team Members, achieving personal and store sales goals, and managing various DIY services such as battery and wiper installations. The position requires ensuring high standards of customer service, including prompt handling of complaints, and understanding the factors that impact the store's profit and loss (P&L) statement. Manager on duty responsibilities encompass coaching, issue resolution, floor and phone management, task assignment and completion, safety oversight, and opening/closing duties, as well as managing the weekly scheduling process. Additionally, the role involves assisting with the commercial delivery program and performing DIY services. Success in this position is driven by an 'owner' mindset, excellent communication and customer service skills, knowledge of automotive parts and systems, and the ability to execute and train on advanced solution recommendations, sourcing from various channels, all store operational processes, inventory systems, point-of-sale (POS), and parts lookup systems. The ability to review and analyze P&L statements is also crucial.

  • Ability to review and analyze P&L statement
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred
  • Speak and write English; communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers and upper management
  • Use Microsoft software effectively (Word, Excel required)
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percent
  • Ability to review and analyze business reports, such as profit and loss statement (P&L)
  • Hold others accountable, inspect work quality and give feedback in a way that is inspiring
  • Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10 – 20 Team Members in a fast-paced and highly dynamic retail environment
  • Successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Nice To Haves

  • ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems
  • Bi-lingual (English)
  • PowerPoint preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area preferred
  • ASE certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide GAS3 selling experience for DIY and professional customers
  • Provide leadership and developmental coaching for store Team Members
  • Achieve personal / store sales goals and service objectives
  • Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service including prompt handling of any complaints for product and operational standards
  • Understand levers to impact P&L
  • Manager on duty responsibilities (touch base/coaching, issue resolution, floor/phone mgmt., task assignment and completion, safety, open/close duties)
  • Weekly scheduling process
  • Assist in backing up operations of commercial delivery program
  • Provide DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
