About The Position

Acuity is seeking a General Manager - Distribution to develop and maintain an organization that grows profitably, direct the activities of direct reports to maximize their effectiveness, and travel within the region to gain firsthand insight into needs and how the company can meet them. Internal deadline to apply: February 18th, 2026 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Work with, supervise and motivate directors in determining, soliciting, appointing and supervising insurance agencies and other channels in the production of acceptable, profitable business. Be conversant with distribution reports and interpret the same for the directors. Meet individually and hold such regular meetings with directors as is necessary. Work with directors in setting and reviewing goals. Take responsibility for the directors’ production of agent continuing education seminars, customer service representative recognition events, agency outings, and breakfast club meetings. Travel on a regular basis, both individually and with the directors, to determine our effectiveness and whether or not the directors are operating according to, and carrying out, company policies. Approve itineraries and expense accounts. Supervise collection of agents' accounts. Work with all matters relating to agency events, conventions, and other sales activities as directed. Host new agencies at corporate headquarters. Know and understand competition and submit such information to both the Marketing Department and Vice President - Distribution. Participate in production of Acuity U videos as requested. Conduct remote meetings with assigned directors on a quarterly basis. Submit weekly reports of the activities of the region to the Vice President - Distribution. Coordinate an annual seminar for producers new to Acuity. Participate in, and obtain the necessary information for, annual agency review meetings. With respect to employees supervised: assign and directs work; provide on-the-job training and coaching; monitor volume, quality and service; evaluate performance; and communicates wage and salary reviews. Run, and participate in, company strategic initiatives, projects, and committees as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university with evidence of high scholastic achievement.
  • Seven years of sales or underwriting.
  • A thorough knowledge of the property/casualty insurance industry.
  • A high degree of skill in the areas of motivation and persuasion.
  • An ability to supervise the activities of those involved in sales.
  • A desire and willingness to travel as necessary.
  • A high degree of skill in verbal and written communications.

  • This job is classified as exempt.
