About The Position

General Manager – Commercial Growth & Business Development Position Overview: This role is first and foremost a commercial growth and business development leadership position, responsible for accelerating FloHawks’ presence in commercial, industrial, and municipal markets while simultaneously overseeing daily operations with full P&L ownership. The General Manager – Commercial Growth & Business Development has end-to-end responsibility for branch performance across operational execution, financial management, commercial sales growth, and customer experience within the FloHawks Branch Office. This role leads branch management teams and service technicians while driving profitable, sustainable growth through hands-on sales leadership and strategic business development. The position requires a visible, hands-on leader who balances daily operational excellence with forward-looking commercial expansion, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective leadership within a structured labor environment, while strengthening market position, deepening customer relationships, and developing high-performing teams. Core Service Segments The General Manager is responsible for driving growth and operational excellence across the following service segments: Municipal jetting and hydro-excavation services Vacuum services Lift station services Industrial wastewater services Commercial plumbing and grease trap services Contracting and bundled service offerings

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience in a service-based, industrial, or environmental services environment (Required)
  • 5+ years of commercial sales leadership and business development experience (Required)
  • Strong background in B2B, municipal, and industrial sales
  • Experience executing marketing and lead-generation campaigns (Required)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Required)
  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated P&L ownership experience.
  • Proven ability to personally lead and close complex commercial, industrial, and municipal sales.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, DOT, CDL, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own full P&L responsibility, including revenue, margins, expenses, and EBITDA performance.
  • Ensure monthly performance meets or exceeds budget, forecast, and growth targets.
  • Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly financial and operational updates to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, CDL, environmental, and LES policies and procedures.
  • Maintain oversight of fleet, equipment, vendors, and maintenance programs to ensure cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Lead emergency response and incident management in accordance with LES protocols.
  • Ensure operational practices align with applicable labor agreements and workforce policies while maintaining productivity, safety, and cost controls.
  • Personally lead major commercial sales efforts and strategic account acquisition.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with facility managers, property management firms, municipal agencies, industrial customers, and large regional accounts.
  • Spend a minimum of 30–40% of time in the field meeting with prospects, key customers, and strategic partners.
  • Create and execute a 90-day commercial growth plan focused on high-priority opportunities and measurable outcomes.
  • Identify high-margin commercial and municipal segments and develop bundled service packages to win and retain those accounts.
  • Develop and execute bid strategies, including preparation and management of RFP responses for municipal and industrial work.
  • Partner with marketing to drive targeted lead-generation campaigns and track performance and ROI.
  • Provide accurate revenue forecasting, pipeline reporting, and commercial growth analytics to leadership.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Branch Management Team, Operating Team, and Service Technicians.
  • Actively coach Assistant General Managers and emerging leaders with succession planning in mind.
  • Provide timely performance feedback, accountability, and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, safety, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a leader, facilitator, and problem-solver across departments and functions.
  • Lead teams operating within established workforce frameworks, fostering collaboration, accountability, and mutual respect between management and frontline personnel.
  • Partner with HR to ensure consistent application of policies, labor standards, and performance expectations.
  • Maintain proactive engagement with customers to drive retention, satisfaction, and long-term partnerships.
  • Resolve customer and employee issues promptly, professionally, and decisively.
  • Strengthen internal coordination with LES departments including IT, Logistics, Finance, HR, EH&S, and Operations.
