About The Position

UPMC Altoona is looking for a casual General Maintenance technician to work 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday Flexible schedule as needed.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent; vocational technical school graduate a plus; valid PA driver's license required.
• General maintenance skills; such as, carpentry, light plumbing, painting and electrical skills.
• Act 34

Nice To Haves

• Troubleshooting mechanical problems a plus.
• Three years' experience with a painting contractor preferred, preferably in a hospital or institution setting

Responsibilities

• Maintains good relations with other members of the crew, other crews, and all other departments so that work is performed in a harmonious manner.
• Performs mechanical room, roof, crawlspace cleaning and inspections periodically as assigned.
• Works with painters, carpenters or other trades as needed and assigned.
• Change air and water filters and clean equipment as assigned to.
• Will be expected to perform any and all other duties related to facility maintenance as deemed necessary by management that is in the best interest of the hospital's its patients, staff, and visitors.
• Completes workorders assigned to in a timely manner as determined by supervisor
• Demonstrates proper operation of power and hand tools for both functionality and safety.
• Complies with established occupational exposure policies.
• Complies with all safety codes whether Federal, State, or local; maintains a safe work environment.
• Works on outside facilities including Parking garage for cleaning repairs or as needed.
• Maintains work area in safe and orderly appearance.
• Basic maintenance duties such as unclogging commodes, changing light bulbs, hanging pictures, etc.
• Available for on call.
• Assists in snow removal duties.
• Replace ceiling tiles, cove base, handrail, repair holes, patch fireproofing, fire caulking and other building infrastructure duties.
